Two people injured in Tacoma apartment fire

Firefighters also rescued two cats from the building.

TACOMA, Wash. — Two people were injured in an apartment fire early Monday morning in Tacoma. 

The fire broke out on the 2900 block of South D Street at around 3:10 a.m., according to the Tacoma Fire Department. 

TFD said the fire appears to have started on the first floor and moved upward toward the second floor and through the room. 

One person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and another person was evaluated by paramedics at the scene for minor injuries. 

Two cats were also rescued from the building.
