Trump wants to stop people from voting by mail. Here’s what it means for Washington

Since 2011, Washingtonians have been allowed to vote by mail in all elections. Now the president is attempting to stop that process with an executive order.

SEATTLE — In a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President Donald Trump said an executive order banning mail-in ballots nationwide is in the works. That would have sweeping effects in Washington state, where it is the default voting system.

“Let me just add another verbal middle finger to the Trump Administration because of these executive orders and these threat,” Washington Secretary of State Steve Hobbs said in an interview KING 5’s Joyce Taylor.
