Trump administration to close Seattle Forest Service lab as part of reorganization

The Pacific Wildland Fire Sciences Laboratory, part of the Pacific Northwest Research Station, will close as part of a restructuring, according to two sources.

SEATTLE — President Donald Trump’s administration is reorganizing the U.S. Forest Service, relocating its headquarters to Salt Lake City and shuttering research facilities nationwide, including one in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood.

The Pacific Wildland Fire Sciences Laboratory, part of the Pacific Northwest Research Station, will close as part of the restructuring, according to two sources familiar with the matter.
