The teen girl told police she was trying to run away because she feared an arranged marriage in another country.
LACEY, Wash. — Jonathan Denicola thought it was just teenagers being rowdy, but he quickly realized it was a man strangling a young woman.
Prosecutors said the man was Ihsan Ali and the woman was his 17-year-old daughter.
Ali and the girl’s mother, Zahraa, face multiple criminal charges following the October 2024 incident, including attempted murder.
Denicola was driving an Intercity Transit bus in Lacey on Oct. 18, 2024. He was the state’s first witness in Ali’s trial.
