Trash piles grow as Puget Sound residents grapple with strike

Republic Services is offering several trash drop-off locations throughout Puget Sound this weekend.

SEATTLE — As the strike against Republic Services continues into its second week, Puget Sound residents are looking for ways to get rid of their growing trash piles.

The teamsters-led strike is delaying trash pickups in cities across western Washington. Most commercial or critical services are not impacted.

The union previously told KING 5 that more than 2,000 Republic Services workers nationwide are on strike, calling for improved wages and benefits.
