LACEY, Wash. — A DUI arrest by the Thurston County sheriff turned into a violent struggle in a family driveway in Lacey.
Sheriff Derek Sanders says the suspect, Ivan Mendez, threw liquor in his face and fought him, leading to an arrest that escalated with a Taser, a neighbor’s help, and a K-9 bite. Mendez now faces several felony and misdemeanor charges, including DUI, felony assault on a peace officer, and resisting arrest.
