Thousands without power, school delays after overnight snowfall in western Washington

Thurston and Kitsap counties were hit the hardest by overnight snowfall. Those who are waking up to snow in their neighborhoods are asked to take it slow.

OLYMPIA, Wash. — Thousands are without power in Thurston County and on the peninsula Thursday morning after snow fell in areas across western Washington.

Puget Sound Energy is reporting over 20,000 customers without power as of 10 a.m., with outages clustered around Olympia and elsewhere across Thurston County, and on parts of the peninsula around Bremerton, Poulsbo, and Gig Harbor. Peninsula Light Co. is reporting just under a thousand outages, with most clustered on the Key Peninsula.
