A warmer winter was indicating a slightly earlier peak bloom, but the cold snap that brought snow to The Quad has now delayed the timing.

A warm winter indicated an early cherry blossom bloom on the University of Washington’s campus, but then a late-winter cold snap is now delaying peak bloom. Â
Peak bloom was originally forecast to begin Friday, March 20. After last week’s snow and dramatic temperature swings, that date has been pushed to mid-week, still close to the 60-year historical average of March 23.Â
“Even though they experienced some dramatic temperature fluctuations over the last few days, we
