A warmer winter was indicating a slightly earlier peak bloom, but the cold snap that brought snow to The Quad has now delayed the timing.

A warm winter indicated an early cherry blossom bloom on the University of Washington’s campus, but then a late-winter cold snap is now delaying peak bloom.
Peak bloom was originally forecast to begin Friday, March 20. After last week’s snow and dramatic temperature swings, that date has been pushed to mid-week, still close to the 60-year historical average of March 23.
