The ‘millionaires tax’ is heading to Ferguson’s desk. Republicans will challenge it, former AG says

Republicans will challenge the income tax in court, former state Attorney General Rob McKenna said.

OLYMPIA, Wash. — The fight over Washington state’s first income tax, known as the “millionaires tax,” is far from over. 

The bill, which cleared the state Legislature on March 11, is heading to Gov. Bob Ferguson’s desk and he is expected to sign it into law. But Republicans will challenge it in court, former state Attorney General and KING 5 political analyst Rob McKenna said.

McKenna, a Republican, said he believes the tax will head to the state Supreme Court.
