'Teetering on the brink of extinction': New report shows Washington's salmon remain at risk

A new report from the Governor’s Salmon Recovery Office is detailing the precarious state of salmon in Washington waters, with many species on the brink of extinction.

“I’m not going to sugarcoat things: the news is not good,” said Erik Neatherlin, executive coordinator of the Governor’s Salmon Recovery Office. “Salmon are in crisis and need our help now more than ever.”

The annual State of Salmon in Watersheds report highlighted the recovery efforts underway and changes that need to be made in order to ensure the survival of this iconic Northwest fish.
