Staff at the Tahoma National Cemetery that normally helps with the flag placement on the grounds for Veterans Day is furloughed, Veterans Affairs said.
KENT, Wash. — The Veterans Day flag placement at Tahoma National Cemetery will not place this year due to the government shutdown.
The Tahoma School District confirmed that the annual 8th grade service-learning project was canceled due to a lapse in funding.
“We know this news is deeply disappointing, and we share that feeling with our students, families, and community, as this event holds significant meaning for all of us,” a statement posted by the district read in part.
