TACOMA, Wash. — Community members and elected officials gathered Friday outside the Northwest ICE Processing Center in Tacoma for a candlelight vigil and protest, calling for limits on federal immigration enforcement and greater transparency as the Trump administration escalates immigration arrests nationwide.
The federal detention facility has long been a flashpoint for immigrant rights advocates, but speakers said the urgency has grown as more people are taken into custody and as recent fatal encounters involving federal agents fuel public anger and fear.
