Tacoma resident spreads awareness after dog’s sudden death at popular park

A Tacoma dog died after eating something under a bench at Owen Beach two months ago. The dog’s owner believes it was a fentanyl overdose.

TACOMA, Wash. — A routine walk at a popular Tacoma park turned tragic for Tacoma resident Kenneth Gentili, after his small dog collapsed and died within minutes, in what he believes was a fentanyl overdose.

The incident occurred two months ago at Owen Beach in Point Defiance Park, where Gentili often walked with his dog. The outing took a devastating turn when the dog ate something from under a bench in the children’s play area.
