Tacoma police deputy chief fired for gender discrimination, hostile workplace

KING 5 Investigators have obtained new documents revealing why Tacoma’s deputy police chief was terminated from his position.

State records show Deputy Chief Paul Junger was fired in March for “gender discrimination” and “creation of a hostile work environment.” 

An outside investigation found evidence supporting these claims.

This termination comes during a shake-up at the Tacoma Police Department. KING 5 previously reported Junger was placed on paid administrative leave in October. 

In February, Police Chief Avery Moore resigned. 

Patti Jackson was sworn in March 19 as the new chief. Twelve days after being sworn in, she fired Junger. Junger served
