Suspect shot by Pierce County deputy after attempting to light building on fire

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office said the man was shot and killed Monday during a chase.

PARKLAND, Wash. — Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies shot and killed a man on Monday afternoon after witnesses said he attempted to light a building on fire.

Law enforcement responded to the 11200 block of C Street in Parkland for reports of an officer-involved shooting shortly after 4 p.m.

An earlier call reported a man was trying to break into a building, according to Sergeant Charles Porche with the Lakewood Police Department. 

Witnesses told deputies the man was trying to light a building on fire.
