Suspect caught on camera stabbing victim who refused to give up food

An outreach worker said Belltown has seen a surge in open drug use, particularly after the city cracked down on similar behavior in other areas.

SEATTLE — A man is in serious condition after being stabbed in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood Sunday afternoon in an area that outreach workers said has become a hotspot for drug activity.

Seattle police said the stabbing happened just after 4:30 p.m. near Second Avenue and Blanchard Street. According to investigators, the suspect approached the victim and demanded food. When the victim refused, the suspect stabbed him and fled the scene.
