Suspect accused of shooting at Thurston County deputies arrested after days-long manhunt

The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office said the 27-year-old suspect shot at a deputy with an AR-15 during a pursuit.

THURSTON COUNTY, Wash. — An armed suspect who reportedly fired an AR-15 rifle at Thurston County deputies last week was arrested Tuesday afternoon at the Nevada-California state line. 

Thurston County Sheriff Derek Sanders said in a Facebook post just after 2 p.m. that Damien Madison, 27, and his mother were placed in custody Tuesday near the Nevada-California state line. 

Madison was wanted for multiple warrants. He was charged with two counts of first-degree assault, drive-by shooting, unlawful possession of a firearm and malicious mischief.
