AG Nick Brown’s lawsuit seeks to shut down Kalshi’s platform in Washington and recover consumer losses.
OLYMPIA, Wash — Washington state Attorney General Nick Brown filed a lawsuit against Kalshi, alleging the company’s online “prediction market” illegally allows people in Washington to bet on sports, elections and other events.
The complaint, filed Friday in King County Superior Court, says Kalshi’s platform violates the state Gambling Act and Consumer Protection Act.
The state is asking the court to stop the company’s operations in Washington, recover money lost by Washingtonians and impose civil penalties.
