Star-studded committee launches to boost Seattle's bid to host the 2026 World Cup

A new coalition of local leaders, tech moguls and celebrities are bolstering Seattle’s bid to host one of the world’s biggest sporting events: the FIFA World Cup.

The committee, called SEA 2026, launched last week with the goal of bringing the quadrennial tournament to Seattle’s Lumen Field in just five years. The 2022 competition will be held in Qatar with a total of 32 teams participating. That number is set to increase to 48 teams in 2026.
