Stanwood High School students protest ICE as wary parents keep watch

About a dozen parents kept a close eye on their protesting kids, Wednesday, after recent skirmishes in nearby towns.

STANWOOD, Wash. — Nearly 200 students walked out of Stanwood High School on Wednesday to protest what they said are deadly immigration crackdowns across the country, joining a wave of youth-led demonstrations sparked by recent deaths during federal enforcement operations.

The walkout came the same day many students stayed home to celebrate the Seattle Seahawks’ Super Bowl victory, but the protesters chose to make a different statement — one of solidarity with immigrant communities and families affected by immigration raids.
