Staff at Multicare Parkland emergency clinic go on strike over stalled contract negotiations

A worker at the clinic said staffing challenges have been exacerbated by the slow pace of contract negotiations.

TACOMA, Wash. — Workers at MultiCare Parkland Emergency Department are walking off the job this week, citing frustration over stalled contract negotiations and alleged labor violations. 

The strike, which includes staff from multiple departments, including registration clerks, imaging specialists and emergency service technicians, is scheduled to continue through Friday night.

The hospital, meanwhile, maintains that patient care will not be affected.
