SR 169 Green River Bridge south of Black Diamond to close for a month

WSDOT employees found “cracking and advanced corrosion” on parts of the bridge. Repair work will take place during the month-long closure that begins Monday.

BLACK DIAMOND, Wash. — The SR 169 Green River Dan Evans Bridge, south of Black Diamond, will close for a month so crews can make badly-needed repairs to the structure. 

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) says engineers found cracking and advanced corrosion on the stringers beneath the lanes of the bridge during a scheduled inspection in early August. The bridge has since been reduced to one lane of alternating traffic down the center.
