Spokane County Sheriff’s Office sergeant killed while responding to I-90 traffic hazard

According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, the victim was identified as Sgt. Kenneth Salas.

SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash — A Spokane County Sheriff’s Office sergeant lost their life Saturday after responding to a crash with a hay baler near Cheney.

According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), the crash happened before 8 a.m. on Interstate 90 near Four Lakes. 

Authorities identified the victim as Sgt. Kenneth Salas, 59, of Spokane. Troopers say a hay bale fell off the back of a truck & trailer heading towards Spokane and landed in the left lane.
