The annual event for North Thurston’s special education students began in 2003.
LACEY, Wash. — Students typically told they can’t, found out they absolutely can at North Thurston Public School’s annual “Day of Champions” event Wednesday.
More than 400 students in special education from across the district participated in physical events, from an obstacle course to soccer goal-kicking, even beach ball turf bowling.
Bo Brennan, a third grader from Lydia Hawk Elementary, has been looking forward to the day all year.
“I was just thinking of having fun,” said Brennan.
