Sound Transit’s new 2 Line “Crosslake Connection” opens this weekend, linking Seattle and the Eastside by light rail for the first time.
MERCER ISLAND, Wash. — After years of delays and setbacks, Sound Transit’s long-awaited “Crosslake Connection” is finally ready to roll.
The new 2 Line light rail extension opens this weekend, carrying riders over Lake Washington from Mercer Island into Seattle in just minutes. It marks a major milestone nearly 20 years after voters first approved the project.
“I’m glad the light rail is here, finally. It’s been a long time coming,” said Jesse Pittman, who works on Mercer Island.
