Snoqualmie tenants face eviction as company plans historic apartment overhaul

Residents of Colonial Square Apartments say they have nowhere to go as a real estate company moves forward with a sweeping renovation of the century-old building.

SNOQUALMIE, Wash. — Tenants of an apartment complex in Snoqualmie are scrambling to find new homes after a real estate investment company purchased the building and issued eviction notices, exposing what local officials and housing advocates are calling an affordable housing emergency in the small city.

Nordic Real Estate acquired Colonial Square Apartments and has since notified all households that they must vacate to allow for a comprehensive infrastructure rehabilitation. Residents who do not leave voluntarily face formal eviction proceedings.
