SKAGIT COUNTY, Wash. — As evacuation orders are in effect for tens of thousands of residents, Skagit County has opened up numerous emergency shelters amid potential “catastrophic” flooding in the area.
About 75,000 people in the 100 Year Flood Plain area were told to evacuate on Wednesday. Torrential rains have sent over a dozen rivers across western Washington into Major Flood Stage at some point this week.
