Shot and left to suffer: Injured cat is 2nd animal to be shot on Olympic Peninsula in a month

A cat found shot in the head in Jefferson County is recovering at a rescue facility. The case is the second recent shooting of an animal in the same community.

QUILCENE, Wash. — A badly injured house cat that wandered into a stranger’s home in seeking help has sparked concern about animal cruelty in Jefferson County.

The calico cat, named Penny, is now recovering at Center Valley Animal Rescue after being discovered Tuesday near the Old Alcohol Plant Inn at Port Hadlock. The animal arrived emaciated and suffering from severe injuries.
