Separate deadly single-vehicle collisions close two highways along Columbia River near Wenatchee

Two highways along the Columbia River are closed due to separate fatal crashes.

WENATCHEE, Wash. — Two highways along the Columbia River are shut down Saturday morning after separate deadly crashes, including one that involved a school bus.

US 97 is closed in both directions at milepost 219, about four miles north of Orondo, after a single-vehicle collision blocked the roadway. There is no detour and no estimate for when the highway will reopen. Drivers heading between Wenatchee and Chelan are being urged to take US 97A on the west side of the river.
