TACOMA, Wash. — Former Seattle SuperSonics star Shawn Kemp is expected to be sentenced Friday in a case stemming from a shooting at Tacoma Mall in 2023.
Kemp pleaded guilty in May to one count of second-degree assault, after previously facing a charge of first-degree assault. Friday’s open sentencing will allow prosecutors and the defense to make sentencing recommendations.
Prosecutors are recommending a sentence range of three to nine months in prison with up to 12 months of community custody. It’s currently unknown what the defense
