Miller Park is restored for families as council president highlights addiction treatment to address homelessness.
SEATTLE — Four years ago, Miller Park in First Hill was overrun with tents and encampments, leaving the park unusable for children and families, neighbors said.
Today, the park has been restored, with kids playing soccer and residents enjoying the space as intended.
Venus Velasquez, a local resident, said the park had become dangerous, with needles, propane fires, and open drug use.
“It was no longer the place where kids played sports or families could come and use this park for its intended purpose,” Velasquez said.
