Seattle’s Environmental Education Program could get a revitalizing funding boost in November

Councilman Dan Strauss’s amendment to an education levy includes an additional $4.1 million to fully fund the Environmental Education Program for six more years.

SEATTLE — Seattle’s Environmental Education Program, originally scheduled to end in 2026, may continue thanks to a new funding opportunity that will go before voters in November.

“It feels good to feel like we have a win right now,” said Melanie Wienecke, a volunteer with Seattle Parks. “We feel like we accomplished something, and now we have a path forward.”
