SEATTLE — Sue Bird is the first Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) player in history to get her own statue. The bronzed Bird, which stands outside Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena, was unveiled on Sunday.
It’s not just her eye-popping stats or her four titles that earned the honor; it’s the legacy she left in the city of Seattle.
“Seattle, you taught me that home isn’t just where you’re from, it’s where you choose to build something meaningful, and we built something so special,” she said
