Seattle Restaurant Week: Bakescapade pop-up bakery celebrates third anniversary with Día de los Muertos ‘flight’

Seattle Restaurant Week runs until Nov. 8. Special menus are available at select restaurants, bars, and food trucks to celebrate the ‘diverse’ local food scene.

SEATTLE — Three years ago, the beautiful sights and scents of “pan de dulce,” Mexican pastries from Bakescapade, popped up in the Pacific Northwest.

The pop-up style bakery based in the Seattle area was co-founded in October 2022 by Karen Sandoval and Cesar Martinez.

Bakescapade focuses on sharing Mexican culture through authentic flavors and also innovative creations that still have a tie to the culture.

“It’s something we wanted to share with our community,” Martinez said.
