Seattle remembers tragic Duck boat crash 10 years later

An amphibious tourist boat crash on Seattle’s Aurora Bridge a decade ago still haunts the city.

SEATTLE — Ten years ago Wednesday, an amphibious tourist boat crashed on the Aurora Bridge, killing five people and changing Seattle forever.

A decade later, emotions are still strong and some in Seattle cannot shake them.

On Sept. 24, 2015, disaster struck as Ride the Ducks of Seattle was operating a Stretch Duck with a defect when the left front axle housing failed, causing a crash on the bridge. The Duck boat struck a charter bus carrying students and staff from North Seattle College.
