Travelers in Puerto Vallarta are facing uncertainty amid violent backlash in Jalisco after the Mexican army killed a cartel leader.
PUERTO VALLARTA, Jalisco — Violence and unrest in the area of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, has left American travelers — including families returning from mid-winter break vacations — stranded and unsure when they will be able to fly home.
A Seattle woman was among those in limbo. Colleen EchoHawk said her family was set to fly out of Puerto Vallarta on Sunday afternoon when hotel staff urged them not to leave for the airport.
