Seattle elementary school cancels classes through Monday due to severe flooding damage

Students currently going to Emerson Elementary in Seattle will transition to the Old Van Asselt building “for an extended period.”

SEATTLE — Emerson Elementary School in Seattle has canceled classes through next Monday due to severe flood damage resulting from a broken water fountain. 

The school put out the message early Friday morning. Classrooms, supplies and materials on both floors of the school were significantly damaged.

The school is offering sack lunches for pickup on Friday and Monday from 9 a.m. to noon at two locations: 

Emerson Elementary at 9706 60th Ave. S. Lake Washington Apartments, 9061 Seward Park Ave. S.
