Seattle commuters ask for express lane relief as Revive I-5 snarls southbound traffic

WSDOT said keeping the lanes northbound acts “as a relief valve” amid lane closures and ensure emergency access.

SEATTLE — Southbound commuters into Seattle have faced major slowdowns since construction on Interstate 5 began in January as part of WSDOT’s Revive I-5 project. 

The work has shut down two lanes of northbound traffic over the Ship Canal Bridge until early June, will all lanes will reopen ahead of the FIFA World Cup.
