Seattle City Attorney Pete Holmes to seek fourth term

Seattle City Attorney Pete Holmes announced Tuesday morning he would seek a fourth term in 2021.

Holmes was elected to his position in 2009, making him the longest-tenured public official in office. The city attorney is one of the most powerful elected officials in the city with over 100 attorneys on staff to handle 12,000 civil and criminal litigation cases a year.

His campaign seeks to address “addresses immediate challenges and ongoing turnover in City Hall” while also making a plea for continuity as Seattle moves forward following racial justice protests over the summer and rebuilds from the economic devastation of the COVID-19 pandemic.
