Road closures, bus route delays due to fire in Seattle’s Chinatown-International District

The fire has been burning for several hours and firefighters predict it will be several more before the flames are completely out.

SEATTLE — A vacant two-story building in Seattle’s Chinatown International district has been burning since late Sunday night, and it will likely be several more hours before the flames are completely out, firefighters say. 

Seattle Fire Department’s 911 center first got a call about the fire on the 1000 block of South Jackson Street at 12:03 a.m. Heavy smoke and flames could be seen coming from the roof of the building. 

The structure is the former Viet-Wah Supermarket which closed in 2022
