Redmond-based Nintendo sues over tariffs, seeks refunds it says were collected illegally

Nintendo says it paid tariffs later struck down by the Supreme Court and now wants the money back, with interest.

REDMOND, Wash. — Nintendo of America sued the federal government Friday, alleging it paid tariffs that were later ruled unlawful and asking a trade court to order prompt refunds with interest.

The Redmond-based video game company filed the lawsuit in the U.S. Court of International Trade against multiple federal agencies and officials, including the Treasury Department, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Commerce, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative.
