Puget Sound recipients of Canine Companions ask community to donate during holidays

Currently, Canine Companions says they have a long list of children and adults waiting for much-needed service dogs.

RENTON, Wash. — Every year, Canine Companions trains and matches hundreds of service dogs.

The nonprofit, which has a Puget Sound Field Office, places between 325 and 375 service dogs per year. 

It has more than 2,700 active teams throughout the country and has placed more than 8,000 dogs since our founding in 1975.

As the organization celebrates its 50th anniversary, it says it needs more donations to continue training certified service dogs. Right now, Canine Companions says there are many children and adults
