SEATTLE — Protestors gathered Tuesday outside Gov. Bob Ferguson’s Downtown Seattle office, demanding he intervene in the case of a Vietnamese migrant who was deported to Africa, where he has no prior connection.
Tuan Phan, who served more than 20 years in prison for first-degree murder and second-degree assault, was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in March shortly after his release from a state prison in Eastern Washington. His family expected he would be deported to Vietnam.
