TACOMA, Wash. — A state program aimed at keeping Washington waters safe and clean could soon face funding cuts, raising concerns among some state leaders.
The Washington State Department of Natural Resources’ Derelict Vessel Removal Program is tasked with identifying and removing abandoned and neglected boats that pose environmental or navigational risks.
Public Lands Commissioner Dave Upthegrove said the problem is widespread.
