The iconic herd in the Snoqualmie Valley has been targeted in the past due to their visibility and accessibility, according to state wildlife officers.
CARNATION, Wash. — A Lynnwood man is scheduled to be in court in December after illegally hunting and killing a cow elk on private property in Carnation.
Two men were arrested on Sept. 13 after they trespassed on Carnation Farms property and killed an elk using a crossbow mounted with an illegal thermal scope, said Capt. Jennifer Maurstad, an enforcement captain for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW).
“They took great lengths to conceal the crime,” Maurstad said.
