SEATTLE — Pike Place Market installed a new sign on Thursday, a first for the iconic Seattle marketplace in nearly 100 years.
The neon red sign is 16 feet tall and mounted six stories high on a marketplace elevator, according to Pike Place Market. At that vantage point, the glowing font is visible from Seattle roads, ferry routes and the waterfront.
“Its purpose is simple: to welcome guests and let everyone approaching know they’ve arrived at the right place,” Pike Place Market said in a social media post on Feb. 19.
The sign was created by Tacoma-based Plumb Signs.
