Over 70,000 people without power in western WA; 1 dead after tree falls on car

Wind gusts up to 50 mph are expected in the Puget Sound lowlands Wednesday evening. Here are the latest updates:

SEATTLE — Over 70,000 people across western Washington are without power on Wednesday night as strong winds hit the region.

The wind has also led to downed trees and powerlines. 

One person died on Wednesday night when a tree fell on their car in the 23200 block of Florence Acres Road in Monroe shortly after 8 p.m. In Carnation, Eastside Fire and Rescue crews are working to rescue one person after a tree fell onto their camper near Lake Joy Road Northeast.
