Officials warn Bear Gulch Fire is expected to grow as hot, dry conditions move in

The multi-agency team involved in the firefighting operations held a town hall at the Hoodsport fire station on Thursday, Aug. 21.

HOODSPORT, Wash. — With hot, dry conditions in the forecast, the multi-agency team overseeing the Bear Gulch Fire in Mason County held a town hall meeting on Thursday to update residents on the firefighting effort. 

The fire has burned more than 8,300 acres on the northern edge of Lake Cushman in the Olympic National Forest. 

It was 11% contained as of Aug. 21.

As part of a rotating command structure, the wildfire is currently managed by the California Incident Management Team
