An annual Point in Time count and state Commerce report show slower increases, but officials warn more action is needed.
OLYMPIA, Wash. — The growth rate of homelessness in Washington slowed in 2025, according to results from the annual Point in Time (PIT) count and the Department of Commerce’s Snapshot of Homelessness report. But the figures still increased in 2025, and officials stressed the number of people without stable housing remains too high.
On Jan. 30, the PIT count tallied 22,173 people experiencing homelessness statewide, excluding King County’s unsheltered total. About 33% were living unsheltered while 67% were in shelters, transitional housing or Safe Haven programs.
